Jean-Jacques Sempé's teasing humour and delicate, poetic style illuminate a wall at the intersection of rue Froissart and boulevard des Filles du Calvaire in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris. Sempé takes us somewhere in the countryside, far from the city, far from the noise, to the quiet rhythm of two bicycles. Their paths come closer together but in the end do not cross, bringing a touch of irony, a hint of melancholy perhaps. We pass the crossroads and continue on our way, a discreet smile on our lips as our mind pauses and escapes for a few moments in response to the artist's invitation.
Thank you, Mr Sempé, for everything you have given us.
